Books about First Dog, Bo!

A strangely familiar Portuguese Water Dog (or Portie) is looking for a family to live with. He starts off in a big city and travels the world looking for a family. He meets all kinds of dogs, including a Newfie, Borzoi and a Chi!! After he has travelled to almost every continent he ends up back where he started from where he sees  an headline in a newspaper: “First Family Looks for Dog.” Since this Portie’s name is Dog – he realizes he has found his family. So he finds a big white house, waits at the door until two little girls beg their father to keep him. Of course, the father says “ Yes!!! “

What a cute book about Bo Obama, the current First Dog of the White House. The reader is introduced to ten different breeds of dogs from all over the world. The print is large so beginning readers will find it a pleasure to read. The illustrations are nice, Bo is particularly adorable (although, the artist neglected to give him a white chest and one white leg!! But, still, Dog is cute.

Another cute picture book about Bo Obama and his life in the White House. In this book for more advanced young readers (because the print is small) Bo tells about how he came to live with the First Family, working in the vegetable garden with the First Lady, playing at the Easter Egg Roll, watching fireworks on the 4th of July and helping to light the National Christmas Tree and the National Hanukkah Menorah. I don’t know if all the adventures in the book are true, but I’m sure Bo was a part of many celebrations at the White House.
