Illustrated by Felicia Bond
A Laura Geringer Book, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, 2000

I’m told this was India Bush’s favorite book – India was the First Cat of the George W. Bush White House – but it is also a very cute Christmas book! And even though Christmas is 8 months away  we wanted to tie in children’s books with Toby’s A to Z blogging challenge, presidential pets!

The story starts off with a little boy taking his mouse to the movies where he – the mouse – makes popcorn-string garland and on the way home, after  building a snowman and a snow fort and having a snowball fight, the mouse wants to make Christmas decorations for the Christmas tree the boy just bought him and he makes tons of ornaments and the suddenly remembers he forgot his popcorn-string garland so the boy gives him some more popcorn and the mouse wants to go back to the movies.  This is the perfect book to read on the night you decorate your Christmas tree!! The print is a good medium size so it’s good for early readers, or for reading aloud because the illustrations are very cute.
